Assignment 2 Design a Poster

Assignment 2 Design a Poster

Q Good morning my dear student. For this week’s assignment, you will create, design, and submit a poster with a purpose that aims to change attitudes (read the book to see what I mean by this). Please, follow the next steps. 1. Read the book “Technical Communication”, pages 3 – 15. Chapter 1. Introduction to Technical Communication. Please, highlight the important ideas, and annotate your own in the book or in another notebook. Then, this way you can remember your thoughts while you do this assignment. Also, I strongly suggest reading the book before jumping into the design process. The chapter contains vital information that you need to understand first. Otherwise, you’re risking your grade by not following these instructions. 2. Create a poster based on the next FICTION: Several instructors have noticed that the food that undergraduate students consume as part of their daily academic routines is mostly fast-food. Plus, local research has demonstrated that many of our UTEP students lack the cooking skills to prepare their meals. Also, other factors such as academic responsibilities, disorganization, times of transportation, fast-food businesses on campus, sedentarism, and technology distractions contribute even more to the problem. Next, the UTEP student population is at great risk of developing heart disease, cancer, obesity, respiratory diseases, diabetes, and dementia due to the regular consumption of the fast-food option. Also, some instructors have reported that several undergraduate students fall asleep more often after lunchtime. Then, it has been concluded that this is an effect of the fast-food digestive process in the body, determining that fast food also affects the grades of UTEP undergraduate students. To combat this problem and inspire students to cook their meals more often, the UTEP Health and Wellness Center requires you to design an honest, colorful, positive, and happy poster that motivates students to change this behavior and choose a healthier one. Also, please avoid the use of negative images or words that might hurt the confidence of our appreciated students. This poster must meet the following requirements: A. 11 x 17 inches in PDF format. B. 2 different fonts only. C. 1 image at least, or more if you can. It depends on you. D. The Health and Wellness Center contact information. E. The UTEP logo with a transparent background. Remember, your audience is UTEP undergraduate students in general. They mostly speak English and Spanish. They are between 17 and 24 years old and are mostly related to Western culture. Use these characteristics to create your poster, and be creative! Use any software available for you, the objective is to accomplish the assignment. You can use Microsoft Word, Adobe Express, Adobe Illustrator, GIMP, Pixlr Editor, or Photopea. Also, UTEP has several computers with Adobe software installed across campus, look for them if you can. 3. Also, include a brief explanation of your creativity of the poster in around 300 words on a separate PDF file. Please, include your full name, class, and a creative title. All written in Arial 12”. 4. Upload both files on BlackBoard! :) *If you have trouble with this assignment, please request an online meeting. Example. I created the poster using Adobe Express. Please, find the appropriate software for you, and do not attempt to copy this design, be creative and do yours :) You'll have fun!

I have decided to use a simple template of the healthy food items and keep a simple background. I have chosen an image of healthy items which clarifies the purpose of the image. The small tag line has been used in the middle of the image to make it announced the purpose of the image. For the poster, I have brainstormed enough as I did not have any idea of the image creation. I decided to keep it simple and elegant so that the readers have no issues in reading the messages embedded in it. I have created four partitions of the image so that it helps me in sorting out the information clearly. One part has been kept for the image and the logo.
